WHAT TO EXPECT
WINGS LIKE EAGLES measures 11 inches wide by 8.5 inches tall. Each featured aircraft spans 2 to 6 full landscape pages, filled with detailed images, close-up views, key statistics, and stories that bring each of these legendary airplanes to life.
Here are a few examples of some of the more than 150+ pages.

Above is one of the page spreads from the section on the P-26 Peashooter. The P-26 was America’s first all-metal fighter. At the time, U.S. fighters still carried the “P” designation for “pursuit,” a naming system that was later changed to “F” for “fighter.”

The mighty B-17 Flying Fortress first took to the sky in July 1935. By the time the United States was thrust into World War II after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, the B-17 stood out as one of the few modern and capable aircraft in an otherwise outdated American arsenal.

The P-40 was another fighter that served throughout the entire war. This rugged aircraft is best known for its time with the famed American Volunteer Group (AVG), better known as the Flying Tigers. Their distinctive shark-mouth nose art became one of the most iconic images of the war. While it lacked the performance of some later model fighters, the reliable, durable, and effective P-40 proved to be a true “ace-maker” in the hands of skilled pilots.
Which Airplanes are Included in the Book?
The number of aircraft worthy of our attention during this time period far exceeds the few covered in this volume. Each of the aircraft featured here played a role in aviation’s progression toward modern flight. Many were great warriors, while others ended up as stepping stones toward the next great thing.
